About me

Here you will learn about how it all has started and why I want to share with my guitar experience.

Education

I was born in Gdynia, Poland so I was very lucky from the beginning, because it’s a really beautiful place on Earth.

In the kindergarten my teacher noticed my musical abilities and recommended my parents sending me to a music school. I had 3 options to choose from: violin, piano or guitar. Without any hesitation (and I was only 6 at that time) I announced my choice – it must have been the guitar. Period. For sure, such a confidence was quite a shock for my parents 🙂

I began learning the guitar at The National Z. Noskowski Music School in Gdynia and at that time I knew what I was going to do in the future. I want to be a guitarist!

At the age of 12 I debut with an orchestra at The City Theatre in Gdynia. I used to perform multiple times at The Baltic Philharmonic and Baltic Opera House as a part of The Young Talents Concert series. I also had a chance to perform at some local TV programmes.

After graduating from the music school, for my further development I chose the capital and cultural city of Poland – Warsaw and a university with great traditions – The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. I was admitted from the first place to study under an invaluable teacher and a great man, prof. Marcin Zalewski. I graduated in 2015 and have continued my education during my post-graduate studies under one of the most famous guitarist around the world – Marcin Dylla at The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music.

Artistic career

During the studies I have established a collaboration with an outstanding guitarist of his generation – Adam Woch. We have known each other from many guitar competitions through several years but it was in 2013 when we started our duo performing and taking music competitions.

After a year of collaboration we got the 2nd prize at The Enrico Mercatali European Guitar Competition in Gorizia, Italy. Moreover in 2014 the ensemble got the 3rd prize at The International Guitar Competition in Olsztyn, Poland. A year after we debut at the most important guitar festival – The Guitar Academy in Poznań, Poland where every single year the most talented guitar and jazz players perform. Besides, we had an incredible chance to perform through all over the world in such places as: Carnegie Hall in NY, China, Thailand, Vietnam and many European countries. Our recent achievement (August 2018) is the 2nd prize and The Best Duo Award during the international competition for chamber music at The Ossola Guitar Competition in Italy.

Why me?

I have a vast teaching experience and I am a performing musician which is a major value for my students. I also stay in touch with one the best classical guitarists in the world such as Sergio & Odair Assad. In addition I am lucky and honoured that Sergio Assad composed a great piece especially for our ensemble. The premiere took place in march 2017 during a shared concert of Woch & Guzik Duo and Duo Assad in Wroclaw and Warsaw which was the first and only event in the Polish guitar history.
